Our company is searching for a motivated Forester with previous work experience to join our team responsible for natural resource management. The Forester provides direct assistance to the Senior Resource Forester in a wide range of tasks and responsibilities across all aspects of the industrial forest’s operations. The Forester reports to the Senior Resource Forester. The Forester will be part of a small team of workers that will be engaged in all parts of the company’s natural resource management in order to meet or surpass the company’s yearly objectives.

Qualifications:
- Site plan reviewers from several disciplines (stormwater management, zoning, and transportation) collaborate to ensure that code requirements for other disciplines are met without interfering with the tree and landscape code.
- This profession involves all areas of forest management and harvest monitoring on company- or privately-owned property.
- Ensure that the City’s trees are healthy and safe, and teach other Streets Division employees how to care for them.
- Assess the state of county-owned forestland and assist in the development of forest stewardship plans that will aid in the management of the land in the future. We collect and analyze data from the field as part of our job responsibilities. This assists us in determining how the forest is structured. Working with personnel and contractors is required in order to utilize the Forest Landscape Assessment Tool (FLAT). It may be used to examine the condition of any forestland parcels that have recently been purchased or that are in the process of being purchased.
- The silviculture plan execution must be in accordance with the regional silviculture strategy and the annual plan. Other responsibilities include field-verification of silviculture treatment candidates and provision of setting-specific recon information to management, silviculture contract negotiation, silviculture operation supervision, timely status updates for system activity updates, monitoring of contract performance including safety, SFI, EMP, production costs, and product quality, and processing of silvicultures.
- It’s important to keep forestry-related websites up-to-date and make new outreach materials that support different forestry programs.
- Responsible for ensuring that the quality, amount, and kind of plant materials utilized are appropriate and that suitable processes are followed to protect existing and install new plants..
- You will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities during your cycle, such as contract administration and/or other jobs as they are given to you.
- Verifies, sets up, and inventories the yearly thin and harvest schedule, as well as road design and access rights of way and any other duties that may be necessary in connection with the sale administration of the crop.
- Inspects submitted landscaping, tree removal, and site clearing plans to ensure that they are in compliance with municipal codes and ordinances; coordinates with lower level inspectors regarding site inspections to ensure that the information contained in submitted plans is correct; reviews factors and grants or denies applications; notifies applicants in writing of the reasons for denial; assigns and participates in inspections of site clearing activities to ensure that work is performed properly.
Skills:
- Excel and Word fluency, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, are required for this position.
- must have a minimum of six months of experience in the field of landscape design and six months of experience in tree and landscape inspections from an accredited college or university, as well as six months of experience in the field of landscape design and six months of experience in tree and landscape inspections from an accredited college or university.
- Perform inspections and identify pathological plant problems; educate employees in tree and landscaping inspections; build and manage effective tree and landscaping inspection systems; conduct inspections and give diagnosis. Analyze the viability of repairing sick or otherwise damaged trees. Review landscaping designs and make an informed decision on whether they should be accepted or rejected. Enforce laws, ordinances, and rules in a fair and consistent manner..
- The ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with other workers, departments, and members of the general public is required.
- Tree planting and maintenance processes, policies, and practices (including wrapping, guying, watering, mulching, and weed control) as well as pruning and trimming, disease inspection and removal requirements and choices are all required.
