You must accomplish all jobs independently and on time. The Library Assistant keeps meeting, communication, policy, purchasing, and procedure records. You also collect, analyze, and change data for administrative initiatives.

Qualifications:
- Check books in and out, prepare classroom circulation reports, manage patron accounts, resolve overdue book concerns, collect fines, and initiate overdue reports.
- Participate in library events, programs, art events, and puppet shows; help set up and take down events; spread the word about events by handing out fliers; keep track of how many people come to each event; help out with story time, book recommendations, and library outreach from time to time.
- Organize, shelve, and return books, periodicals, CDs, and other library items to their appropriate places; reorganize shelves to create space for additional materials; check to see that books that have been shelved are in the correct sequence; manage the process of repairing any books that have been damaged; book drops are emptied, and library items are cataloged and arranged using a variety of online databases.
- Assists users in accessing library services/equipment, programs, and facilities, collects/cancels fines or fees, answers inquiries, and identifies service needs.
- Participating in the precise planning, computation, and implementation of complicated group book shifts that include numerous levels. Other group tasks, such as handling contributions, compiling library data, and similar activities.
- Shelving library materials in call number order; shelf-reading and keeping stacks clean; handling book relocation efforts in order to free up shelf space are some of the responsibilities of a library clerk.
- Processing of new and donated objects for the collection should include stamping with ownership stamps, inserting security strips, pockets and bar codes, as well as typing and adding spine labels..
- Help the Librarian establish, evaluate, and manage the library collection to satisfy student and faculty requirements. Assist Librarian and Textbook Coordinator with textbook program and delivery.
- Help customers locate requested resources and react to their questions about library services and procedures by taking phone calls and directing them to the appropriate person or department. Maintain excellent connections with the general population. Obtain and distribute library cards to new registrants. Investigate the available resources. Items that have been placed on hold will be processed. Contact customers to inform them that their requested items are available for pick-up. Patrons who have delinquent fees should be notified.
- Contributes to the staffing of the Check-Out Desk(s) in order to provide assistance to customers with checking items in or out, putting holds, registering customers, collecting fines and fees, and resolving issues.
Skills:
- Capability of working simultaneously on many projects, Capability to work independently on projects, as well as the initiative to define the numerous tasks that need to be done (e.g. keep tables clean, fill paper trays, replace supplies)
- It is essential that you have a high school diploma as well as experience working with computers and portable devices. It is also preferred that you have understanding of library operations and at least six (6) months of work experience in a library.
- In order to apply for this job, you must have a two-year Associate’s degree, diploma, or equivalent from a college or technical school or business, vocational or correspondence school. It is possible to get a suitable certification after completing further education or training.
- You may be asked to advise non-subordinates on individual concerns or general policies. Meeting consensus may require considering competing views. Persuasion may be needed if a notion isn’t popular.
- Rebooting, turning on and off the computer, using the mouse, keyboard, and saving a file are just a few instances of computer skills. Having great organizational skills, including the ability to sort objects alphabetically and numerically is required.
