Job Description
Product costing and inventory accounting are the responsibility of a manufacturing plant’s Cost Accountant. Answer financial information requests from department heads, supervisors, and the controller, and deliver plant metrics in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
- Uses suitable costing approaches to identify, ascertain, aggregate, and report costs of activities while designing and/or enhancing cost management systems.
- Coordinates with others to make financial management system improvements necessitated by reporting requirements.
- In order to assess historical costs, detect erroneously recorded charges and reallocate expenses in order to guarantee that they are presented in the right cost structure, an accountant must analyze, check and understand accounting data, records and reports.
- Maintains and is in charge of a complicated accounting software that incorporates cost and management accounting, among others. Participates in the agency’s forecasting, payroll, and budget planning procedures as well.
- Cost accounting data may be made more accurate and timely by the use of proper costing techniques. This is done by developing or improving existing cost accounting data.
- Consider existing data, predicted future costs, and consumer demand while developing and implementing cost-reducing process innovations to improve production’s financial performance. Ensure that all parties involved in the yearly inventory of the facilities are working together in order to play a significant role. Maintain a hands-on approach to the project’s accrual closeout.
- General ledger accounts, for example, must be reconciled and investigated for any irregularities.
- Provides management with guidance and support on accounting and financial management issues, gathers and analyzes data, helps to resolve discrepancies in the data, and/or develops suggestions for management choices.
- Establishing a climate of mutual trust and respect throughout the company’s several divisions will aid the management team in making prudent financial choices. Conduct weekly manufacturing performance meetings, yearly shutdown project accrual budget meetings, and costing effects training for others to actively transmit a complete grasp of company performance data to all personnel.
- In order to help management make informed choices, business data ensures the accuracy of financial and performance data Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining/updating the yearly standard cost roll and meticulously costing new goods for the sales team Examine the accuracy of monthly freight charges, inventory cycle counts, month-end inventories, and invoice/spending data; look for inconsistencies, monthly inflation, and cost-saving potential. To ensure proper credit/hour accruals and production expenses, as well as shutdown project accruals, work with the manufacturing team. Involve yourself in financial audits. In accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and procedures, monthly and quarterly reporting of census data are required by law.
