Job Description
The Rigger is in charge of inspecting, maintaining, and inspecting the condition of all lifting gear used to transport goods by crane to or from maritime vessels. Ascertain that the job being done and the equipment being utilized fulfill the company’s safe working requirements.

Qualifications:
- A rigger’s duty is to set up and secure heavy lifting equipment using pulleys, ropes, and hoists as needed. Executes physical labor in the course of one’s professional duties.
- Secures loads to rigging using hand and power equipment to provide support or ready them for movement.
- Planks, fiber ropes, wire ropes, chains, swing scaffolds, and other rigging equipment are all examined, tested, and maintained.
- Ensures the safety of personnel and goods by signaling or verbally directing those involved in lifting and moving weights.
- While most of the labor requires individual initiative and judgment, teamwork is essential while completing rigging installation.
- Equipment, machinery, and other things must be safely lifted and lowered on or off work platforms, vehicles, streets, or other levels of buildings or vessels.
- This position needs consistent punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in compliance with business requirements.
- Installations require the rigger work at heights ranging from twelve to sixty feet from floor level, and may often call for the use of safety equipment and climbing.
- Only a few of the particular jobs involved in this project include the installation of hardware to existing structures, the installation of hanging pipes, beams, or tracks, and the installation of hardware to concrete, steel, wood, and block walls.
- In charge of drilling and fastening sheaves, winches and other counterweighted, winched or dead-hung system components and verifying their performance.
Skills:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of assorted materials and components on their own.
- A drug test must be passed before a candidate may be considered for an appointment. While working, riggers are exposed to random drug and alcohol testing.
- A valid state driver’s license is essential for DOT appointments, and it must be maintained for the length of employment.
- Five years of full-time experience as a Rigger performing the duties and responsibilities listed under Duties and Responsibilities during the past 10 years.
- The employee is often needed to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, squat, and/or sit while performing the tasks of this profession.
