Direct Support Professionals help people. In our residential programs, Direct Support Professionals help participants with personal hygiene, cooking, home cleaning, laundry, leading a healthy lifestyle, shopping, budgeting, maintaining proper conduct, and community integration.

Qualifications:

  • Give them assistance with things like using the bathroom, cooking, cleaning the home, doing laundry, keeping a healthy lifestyle, shopping, budgeting, acceptable behavior, and integrating themselves into the community.
  • Help with a variety of additional day-to-day chores, as required, to facilitate persons’ progress toward greater self-sufficiency and achievement of their goals. Transport to and from scheduled appointments
  • Provide light housework, errands, and transportation/accompaniment for clients, as well as assistance with prescriptions. Help with daily tasks such as food preparation, bathing, feeding and toileting, and personal grooming. Provide personal care.
  • Give someone company and conversation by stimulating, motivating, and helping them. Take clients to community events and activities, like grocery shopping and other errands.
  • Provide direct care services and specialized care to people with intellectual disabilities in their daily lives, social lives, and recreational activities. Support and help people become as independent as possible.
  • Participation in the development and upkeep of formal objectives and procedures in compliance with the CFA/ISP and behavior plans for teaching and documentation
  • Complete all mandatory trainings and attend Peer Mentoring Program, Inservice seminars, and recertification trainings as needed. Defend the rights of those we serve
  • Report on customer statuses and updates in a proactive manner, maintaining a good atmosphere with open and honest communication; Create an atmosphere of trust with your family members, and be there for them when they need emotional support. Inform the clinical team if there are any concerns about the health of the patient.
  • Use recommended methods to assist others, keep track of your progress, and provide a report on your findings. Be on the lookout for any changes in their demeanor or physical health.
  • A knowledge of, and an ability to correctly apply, emergency procedures, Make sure the vans are clean, and document any issues with the vehicles so they may be rectified by the Site Supervisor or Manager.

Skills:

  • Recognition of the needs and concerns of others, as well as the capacity to develop solid connections that are client-centered, regardless of geography, socioeconomic circumstances, medical diagnosis, ethnic background, or religious affiliation
  • A high school graduation or equivalency certificate is required, as is some college experience. Working with individuals with developmental disabilities is better if you have prior experience. A valid driver’s license must have been held for at least 18 months.
