Job Description
In order to execute and analyze tests, an Engineering Technician will write code and scripts in a language like Python, C, C++, bash shell, or any language suitable for the task. These scripts/code will execute tests, collect artifacts from those tests, evaluate those artifacts to decide if they passed or failed, and store that information in a stack. We’ll be enhancing the stack so that it can take in data, display it visually, and generate KPI reports (KPIs). They will get the opportunity to perform tasks in a safe setting, collect and analyze data, and report their findings to others.

Qualifications:
- Collects, investigates, and analyzes a wide range of engineering and operational data in service of County infrastructure needs; takes part in field and topographical surveys for design assignments and stake/field layout design components for construction projects; evaluates road conditions and establishes necessary corrective actions to repair or resurface roadways; Performs site-specific fiefdom duties and quality checks construction against project plans and specifications.
- Develops and maintains written legal descriptions of property, including interpreting maps and plats, making new maps using computer-aided design (CAD), compiling data on grant, permit, and environmental compliance, and more.

- Collaborates with engineers and other employees to develop solutions to City infrastructure needs; uses GPS, GIS, and CADD software to create plans, skilled engineering drawings, specifications, details, maps, plats, and other displays for engineering projects.
- Responds to citizen concerns, questions, and complaints; engages with professional design consultants; prepares public outreach and creates information for distribution; drafts letters and mass mailings to explain the project; and explains the project in detail.
- Maintains and repairs machinery when it breaks down. Finding solutions (when necessary). Fixes broken or faulty components, such as motors and switches.
- Responsible for keeping electronic and paper records of daily departmental activity, completing project records and design/drawing files for given projects, and doing database file updates as needed.
- Provides preliminary conclusions on technical compliance issues by reviewing plans, plats, permits, reports, and studies for residential and commercial properties to ensure that they are in accordance with local legislation and building codes. Consulting with outside architects and engineers to find solutions to problems and establish guidelines for achieving code compliance; analyzing the planned project and its potential outcomes; and recommending approval or corrective measures to address any deviations or violations.
- Contract documents and necessary permits are prepared; construction specifications are written and reviewed by the contractor to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations; bids are organized and cost estimates are calculated; costs for materials, labor, and equipment are reviewed for accuracy; and technical guidance is provided during construction.
- Provides cost estimates, cost verification, and engineering-based calculations for ratios, volumes, angles, grades, construction quantities, and other project components as needed per the needs of the assigned project.
Skills:
- Excellent social, organizational, and verbal skills are essential.
- It is preferred, though not required, that applicants have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer system engineering, or a related field of engineering.
- Possess a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in surveying, drafting, and other sub-professional civil engineering tasks; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or tasks that would give the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.
- All provisionally chosen candidates for a VA testing designated position must submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug usage before to their appointment. Candidates who refuse to take the VA examination will be disqualified.
- In-depth familiarity with roadway design tools and general computer operations. Participates in tasks involving Autocad Civil D, Trimble, the internet, spreadsheets, word processing, and State software for Road and Bridge as directed.
