Job Description
As an Equipment Operator, you will operate heavy equipment owned and operated by the District, such as semi-tractor/trailers, dozers, excavators, water tenders, engines, and other miscellaneous equipment, in a skilled and safe manner. You’ll be the principal operator of an initial assault fire dozer and the primary transport driver in the event of a wildland fire emergency. Within the District, you may also use heavy equipment for non-emergency land management purposes. You’ll organize and/or conduct the physical effort required to put out a wildfire. Heavy equipment operation, Vehicle Maintenance detection, pre-suppression, prevention, and suppression, as well as normal building and ground maintenance are all part of the job description.

Qualifications:
- Raw materials and finished components are moved and placed with the help of material movement equipment. Standard operating procedures should be followed while maintaining and running a vehicle.
- Maintains construction equipment by doing minor repairs and maintenance.
- Safely use mowers, front-end loaders, and air hammers without endangering yourself or others. This includes manual labor such as mowing, repairing, and shoveling asphalt and snow.
- This job involves cleaning up and maintaining the sanitary sewage system and streams. They do this by using equipment that ranges from simple to complicated, such as rubber-tired backhoes, tracked excavators and loaders, maintainers, bobcats, cranes, compactors, and front-end loaders.
- Works with the City to get construction or maintenance supplies from city stockpiles or suppliers and delivers them to city sites for use in building or maintenance projects.
- Employs big equipment while following business safety requirements and procedures. Maintains accurate records of routine equipment inspections and maintenance.
- Communicates with both internal and external clients including cooperators, landowners, public and fire personnel, Understands and executes safe work procedures, Works cooperatively as a team member.
- Maintain the facility’s cleanliness, organization, and safety. After every usage, Report any machine problems to the Equipment Technician.
- Moves earth-moving equipment and other medium- to large-sized vehicles to the project site while following safety rules and requirements.
- Execute all of the obligations of an equipment operator. Keep a complete log of all machine operations, maintenance, and gas use.
Skills:
- You are required to have a minimum of six months of experience working as an Equipment Operator I or a minimum of one year of experience working in a capacity that is comparable. Experience on the job may be replaced with education if it is in a field such as turfgrass management.
