Qualifications:
- Respond to service calls and requests for plumbing-related equipment operation, repair, maintenance, installation, and removal (including dining specific equipment).
- Plan and put out the route, placement, fall, and appropriate functioning of plumbing systems and equipment by interpreting architectural designs, blueprints, and drawings. Completion of system routing and placement; installation, connection, and testing of equipment. Determining which pieces are necessary for a task well done. Pipe and connector locations are marked on walls and floors.
- Uses hand and power tools to cut holes in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings. Pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe threading machines are used to cut and thread pipe. Use a pipe-bending machine to achieve the desired angle, or place the pipe over a block and bend it by hand.
- Maintains assigned plumbing equipment by performing routine inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs, adjustments, testing, and troubleshooting in accordance with plumbing codes, diagrams, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s maintenance instructions. Schedules and keeps accurate records of all work performed.
- Observes plumbing systems and fixtures to discover problems or malfunctions. Removes faulty components from devices. Checks used components and equipment for changes in calibration, dimensions, and manufacturer’s specs. Tests and calibrates systems and equipment to guarantee optimal system functioning.
- Utilizing both hand tools and power tools, the individual in this role is responsible for the assembly and installation of valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of metals such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, as well as nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.
- A plumber installs, changes, and repairs plumbing by using techniques such as main line location and taping, system routing, opening placement and cutting, and hanger installation. When pipes are appropriately leveled and slanted, the need for valves, traps, and unions becomes obvious. As a consequence, the system is more efficient. Backflow prevention devices should be repaired, replaced, and installed in accordance with local jurisdictional standards.
- Performs scheduled maintenance checks and leak detection tests, solders or brazes tubing and piping, pours lead joints and seats equipment, and installs and fixes complex combinations of couplings, unions, and joints. Installs and replaces parts in water heaters, tanks, sinks, showers, and fuel and oil storage areas according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This is done by following approved procedures and using approved test equipment.

Skills:
- Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position, including, but not limited to, the ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, perform mathematical equations, and use hand and power tools in the appropriate manner.
