Job Description
As directed by the Operations Administrator, the Municipal Planner is tasked with the analysis, organization, and execution of complex planning studies for the enforcement of city codes, laws, planning site plan conditions and limitations, and permits pertaining to the Zoning Ordinance. Supervisory and administrative work at the professional level is the responsibility of those classified in this classification.. An individual in this position serves as an advocate for the City and County’s Zoning Codes and Regulations. As required, performs associated responsibilities.

Qualifications:
- Assist in writing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan, which includes coordinating, writing, presenting, and processing plan chapters and amendments, status reports, and other related activities, as well as other tasks.
- Data-driven visualizations and narrative reports based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of economic, social, and physical aspects of land use are the primary responsibility of this position.
- Produces different documents, reports, and documentation for public hearings, various meetings, and presentation to the Board of Trustees. Provides presentations and thorough reports on development projects to the City Council, Planning Commissions, Architectural Design Review Board, and the general public, as well as the general public.
- Effective, concise, and accurate communication of complicated information is critical for the success of internal agencies and developers.
- A wide range of office equipment, software, and operations are all easily handled by the person with this skill set.
- helps to create and modify planned objectives in line with statistical data collecting, statistical research and comparison outcomes.
- To maintain a smooth operation and to satisfy customer expectations, create a daily delivery plan that makes use of available equipment, labour, and other resources.
- Obtains, examines, and processes development applications, including site plans, subdivision requests, conditional use permits, and other land development proposals, and verifies that these applications are in accordance with both the UDC and the Comprehensive Plan
- The city’s planning director is in charge of zoning and urban design. Procedural modifications to the city’s zoning plan approval process or urban planning programme are recommended and implemented by this position (i.e amendments to the plans, site plans, drawings, and reports, etc).
- Lead the design and implementation of community and stakeholder engagement programs.
Skills:
- Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in a municipal planning and zoning function, with a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory capacity, in the fields of urban planning, environmental planning, regional planning, or urban design
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities; ability to think swiftly and logically; ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- It’s important to know the physical, social, and economic aspects of a community, as well as how they work together. This includes knowledge of the most recent and upcoming trends in site and urban design. It also includes understanding the legal foundation and techniques used to write land use regulations, real estate, and development laws.
- An expert level of knowledge and experience with the principles and practises of urban planning and redevelopment.
- It is necessary to be willing and able to study rapidly in order to get a thorough understanding of local zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances.
