Full-Time Museum Curator – Sokoto
Job Description
In addition to providing support to researchers through electronic means and in the reading room, the Curator is responsible for producing manuscript collections, University record groups, and born-digital assets. An Archives and Special Collections (ASC) department and library policy maker, this individual serves as a resource and advisor to the ASC staff and the organization as a whole. People in this position are expected to represent the library at public events, and they will be involved in outreach efforts.

Qualifications:
- Aid in the volunteer program of the museum system, particularly in the areas of recruitment, placement, and training.
- Maintain good proactive connections with other municipal agencies, outside suppliers, programming partners, and educational institutions.
- Be an advocate for diversity, equality, accessibility and inclusion in the museum’s programming, staff and public interactions by fulfilling the cognitive, physical and social/emotional needs of a wide spectrum of visitors.
- Repositories and gift deeds must be arranged. Gift and purchase evaluations, loan agreements, and adherence to norms are all handled by this person.
- By phone, email, and in person, you provide first-contact public services to the public. Explanations of methods are provided, as well as basic reference interviews conducted. Prompt, accurate, and thorough in meeting departmental standards of conduct. Reference exchanges are documented in accordance with departmental policy.
- Develop and publish peer-reviewed articles based on independent technical study into the history of computers, including its design, technological advancements, cultural importance, and historical significance.
- Participating in the long-term creation and preservation of collections and related information.
- The ability to be involved in all parts of the daily operations of collection management Antiquities, artwork and documents are all preserved at the museum.
- Modern historical literature and interpretative best practices are kept up to date. Keeps up with cutting-edge research and new historical arguments. Looks for ways to use current historical knowledge in programming.
- in charge of organizing large-scale exhibition and publishing initiatives that go across national and international borders, as well as doing research, coordinating exhibition preparation, and seeking out loans.
Skills:
- In-depth understanding of museum best practices; fluent public speaker; excellent written and verbal communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

- Having the ability to make metadata for digital collections, finding aids, and other archival descriptions.
