Job Description
The Machinist uses their expertise in tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, machining, and assembly procedures to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

Qualifications:
- The ability to maintain and operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders is essential.
- Disassemble the device and replace or repair any worn parts to ensure the equipment is operating properly and safely.
- In order to create high-quality parts, it is important to work with programmers in technical communication.
- Example safety measures include Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and the right use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (PPE)
- Provides a bridge between verbal and written instructions, specifications, and plans, and oversees the execution of both.
- Examine the manufacturing processes, sequences of operations, product dimensions, and tolerances through the examination of sample components, blueprints, drawings, and engineering data.
- For the purpose of setting up and operating both manual and CNC machine tools, a skilled machinist makes use of a wide range of specialized machinist’s hand tools and accurate measuring equipment.
- Make use of resources such as tools, components, software, and hardware, as well as component specifications, to get the job done. Find ways to improve the machine’s performance by modifying the specifications of its individual parts.
- Turning, milling, drilling, and tapping in sequences of above-average complexity are required to produce required quantities of component components.
- Check finished products for defects and adherence to standards using precise measurement tools.
Skills:
- Gaining a two-year associate degree or two years of experience in a related field is required to enter the field of mechanical or automotive engineering.
- Skill with both conventional and advanced computer systems and with manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated machinery is preferred (lathes, grinders etc.)
- In the hottest part of the summer, you’ll need to be able to work in temperatures of up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Gage blocks, calipers, micrometers, and drop gages are all examples of precision instruments that can be used to take accurate measurements.
- A background as an Industrial Machinist, with knowledge of metalworking qualities and a familiarity with machine technology, construction, operation, and power/control devices.
