Job Description
As an Equipment Operator, you will operate heavy equipment owned and operated by the District, such as semi-tractor/trailers, dozers, excavators, water tenders, engines, and other miscellaneous equipment, in a skilled and safe manner. You’ll be the principal operator of an initial assault fire dozer and the primary transport driver in the event of a wildland fire emergency. Within the District, you may also use heavy equipment for non-emergency land management purposes. You’ll organize and/or conduct the physical effort required to put out a wildfire. Heavy equipment operation, Vehicle Maintenance detection, pre-suppression, prevention, and suppression, as well as normal building and ground maintenance are all part of the job description.

Qualifications:
- Moving and placing raw materials and finished components requires the employment of material movement equipment. This equipment is utilized to accomplish these tasks. Standard operating procedures should be followed whenever a vehicle is being maintained or operated in any way.
- Perform all responsibilities and/or activities related to the Equipment Operator role, including maintaining logs for each machine’s operation, maintenance, and gas use.
- Maintains and fixes construction equipment on a regular basis in order to ensure that the equipment can continue to operate successfully.
- Uses and drives light to moderately complex equipment safely for City and utility maintenance. Safely uses and drives rubber-tired backhoe, tracked excavators and loaders, maintainers, bobcats, street sweepers, cranes, soil compactors, and front-end loaders. Excavates asphalt and concrete, clears debris and blockages from creeks, and maintains the sanitary sewer system.
- Ensures that all safety norms and requirements are followed to when transporting heavy equipment of the size of medium to big automobiles to the project site.
- Maintains the company’s safety standards and procedures when using heavy equipment. Equipment inspection and preventative maintenance records are meticulously kept.
- Keep the facility clean, orderly, and safe. Clean equipment after usage. Check all machinery and report problems to the Equipment Technician.
- Communicates with both internal and external clients including cooperators, landowners, public and fire personnel, Understands and executes safe work procedures, Works cooperatively as a team member.
- Transports and unloads construction supplies such as sand, flexbase, asphalt, gravel, and other materials from City stockpiles or suppliers for building or maintenance projects around the city.
- Use mowing mowers, front-end loaders, and air hammers safely to avoid injuring yourself or others. Mowing, patching, and shoveling asphalt and snow are all instances of manual labor.
Skills:
- Construction processes, methods, and materials are all covered. familiarity with common workplace dangers and safety precautions Manual dexterity and endurance for long periods of time.
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), Experience in mechanical assembly, driving a forklift, and/or running equivalent machine equipment for two years. Good driver’s license required.
- You are required to have a minimum of six months of experience working as an Equipment Operator I or a minimum of one year of experience working in a capacity that is comparable. Experience on the job may be replaced with education if it is in a field such as turfgrass management.
- Excellent communicator who maintains honesty and integrity in all interactions with those concerned. Performing upkeep on and running various power-driven machines and gadgets
