Qualifications:
- The medical record clerk is also responsible for entering data into a monitoring system and conducting monthly audits of the discharge procedure checklist.
- Sort and organize loose pages in accordance with established paper and electronic scanning standards.
- The Medical Record Clerk will aid in the purging of closed charts for boxing and off-site storage.
- It is necessary to be able to follow instructions precisely even when they call for modifications and to apply critical thinking strategies to a range of real-world and unexpected situations.
- Good judgment is required, as well as the ability to apply one’s knowledge in varied contexts.
- Gather and distribute charts and loose papers from all areas of the clinic or hospital.
- The Medical Records Clerk must be adaptable in order to satisfy the ever-evolving demands of the department and fulfill any other duties assigned by the Medical Record Director.
- In line with the Clinic’s guiding principles and goals, this person must be self-motivated, organized, and able to multitask, handle sensitive material, and maintain confidentiality.
- Help the medical records supervisor with additional management information system requirements, such as the creation of recurring statistics reports.
- An additional duty of a medical record clerk is the creation of sequentially numbered files for the storage of completed medical records, which are then retrieved and filed by the medical record clerk.
Skills:
- Ability to deal well with others and adaptability in an ever-changing workplace.
- A minimum of one year of experience working as a medical record technician, medical record clerk, unit secretary, or in a job equivalent where processing electronic medical/health records was a regular duty.
- To be able to identify and correct any inconsistencies in information.
- Understanding of the fundamental ideas behind common electronic medical record practices, techniques, and necessities to carry out a wide range of everyday medical records management.
- Expert use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
