Qualifications:
- General forestry needs such as early-rotation and mid-rotation duties, contract administration, and/or other tasks as needed.
- Forestry-related websites should be kept up to date and new outreach materials should be made to support different forestry programs.
- The applicant is notified in writing of the reasons for denial after reviewing the application’s factors. Assign and participate in site clearing inspections to ensure that the plans submitted are compliant with municipal codes and ordinances before they are implemented. To guarantee that the information included in submitted plans is valid, coordinate with lower level inspectors about site inspections.
- Streets Division employees need training in proper tree care practices so that the city’s tree stock may be kept healthy and safe.
- Asses the condition of forestland that is owned by the county and help to write forest stewardship plans that will help guide future restoration and management. Activities include collecting data in the field and analyzing it to figure out the condition of the forest. All recently and recently acquired forestland parcels should be assessed with the help of staff and contractors. They should use the Forest Landscape Assessment Tool (FLAT) to figure out how they’re doing.
- When it comes to selling and managing the crop, this person makes sure that the yearly thin and harvest schedule is correct, as well as the design of the roads and access rights of way, as well as any other tasks that may be needed for that.
- Consults with other site plan review staff (stormwater, zoning, and transportation) to ensure that the code requirements of other disciplines are adhered to without clashing with the tree and landscape code requirements.
- Contributes to municipal tree and landscape inspections by providing assistance and taking part in the inspections itself. Quality, amount and kind of plant materials utilized must meet the requirements of the project, and methods for safeguarding and installing new plants must be followed, as well as arrangements for plant maintenance.
- Assistance with all aspects of silviculture, forest management, and harvest monitoring on company-owned and private-owned properties is required.
- The silviculture plan execution must be in accordance with the regional silviculture strategy and the annual plan. Other responsibilities include field-verification of silviculture treatment candidates and provision of setting-specific recon information to management, silviculture contract negotiation, silviculture operation supervision, timely status updates for system activity updates, monitoring of contract performance including safety, SFI, EMP, production costs, and product quality, and processing of silvicultures.

- Relationship building skills with colleagues, departments, and the public.
- In addition to strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word), candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Establish and manage effective tree and landscape inspection programs, execute inspections and detect pathological plant problems while working outdoors, educate staff in plant disease diagnosis and other activities as assigned. Check to see if any trees that have been harmed by disease may be saved. Determine whether or not a landscape design should be approved or rejected by looking at it closely. The enforcement of codes, laws, and regulations must be done with firmness, tact, and impartiality.
- A high degree of knowledge is required in all parts of tree care, from planting to pruning to disease inspection and elimination. Tree management tactics must also be well understood.
- From a recognized college or university, six months of experience in landscape design and six months of experience in tree and landscape inspections are required of all candidates for the position of landscape designer.
