Full-Time First Shift Dental Assistant – Onitsha
Job Description
For both normal and emergency treatments, the Dental Assistant assists the dentist/hygienist in the general treatment of patients, which includes diagnostic, preventative, restorative, periodontal, endodontic and pedodontic dental care.

Qualifications:
- Maintains an environment that is conducive to good dental and overall health by demonstrating proper oral hygiene, questioning patients to determine their level of home care, and providing patients with instruction on the proper way to floss and brush their teeth in accordance with established protocol.
- A dental assistant is in charge of many different parts of patient care, such as handing the dentist tools and supplies during treatments, taking x-rays of patients’ teeth, making plaster models of patients’ teeth, and many other things.
- Manage the available resources by preparing the supplies with as little wastage or need for duplication as possible. Additionally, make sure that all of the dental equipment is functioning correctly by completing the preventive maintenance requirements and following the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
- Patients are greeted in the waiting area and escorted to the operating room. Assists the dentist in administering treatment at the chair side, at the dentist’s request or direction.
- Inspect and maintain the external and interior look of the car, in addition to performing fundamental support tasks such as changing the oil at regular intervals, refueling the vehicle, replacing the brake lights, and other similar tasks.
- This individual maintains the patient’s record by acquiring their dental records and asking them about their medical history.
- When working as a dental assistant, you’ll require four-handed abilities to aid dentists in a broad variety of dental procedures such as extracting teeth and making imprints and applying light-cured material.
- Adheres to all components of a compliance program, such as completing training and notifying the appropriate authorities of any suspected breaches.
- Helps patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment. Orders office supplies, etc.
- Maintains dental supplies inventory by conducting stock audits to assess inventory levels; planning ahead for anticipated needs in dental supplies; making orders for dental supplies and ensuring their prompt delivery.
Skills:
- Six months of experience that either indicates the applicant’s capability to execute the task, or that offers familiarity with the work, is required. Combinations of experience and education that are equivalent to one another are acceptable.
- Ability to use sterile methods and infection control protocols. Ability to help the dentist four-handedly
- Knowledge of how to use computer databases, able to read, write, and do math, Knowing how a dental clinic or office works, what it does, and how it does it.
- It is recommended that applicants have a current X-ray license, Possessing prior experience working in a mobile dental environment is preferred, as well as being fluent in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification; two years of experience desirable in a dental environment.
