Full-Time Field Geologist – Damulog

Job Description

It is the Geologist’s job to review and evaluate permit applications, as well as waste cleanup submittals, draft permits and associated documents, complete all required data entry into applicable databases and provide technical assistance to regulated entities.

Qualifications:

  • Positioning drilling equipment, conveying management goals to drill crews, and keeping contact with drillers to keep management up-to-date on mechanical concerns, hole quality, and surveys are all responsibilities that drillers have to carry out their jobs effectively and efficiently.
  • Geological and risk assessment papers are required to be inspected by district or division authorities before submissions for solid waste and waste cleanup may be considered complete. Evaluate plans and documents provided by supervisors or managers for site repairs.
  • Word, Excel and database software abilities are desirable, although knowledge of ArcGIS and CAD is a bonus. A solid understanding of remedial systems and general building and mechanical abilities are a bonus.
  • If further information is required, create requests and papers that are technically correct, precise, comprehensible, and in accordance with all applicable guidelines, instructions, and procedures.
  • Monitoring drilling and well installation and keeping track of soil boreholes are among the most common tasks. Samples of the soil and groundwater will be taken for testing.
  • Remediation investigations, remedial system designs, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, groundwater monitoring plans and reports, cost calculations, and the preparation of technical papers may be among the duties they are expected to do.
  • It is important to notify the Project Manager of any issues that arise throughout the project, such as cost and time overruns, changes in scope requested by the customer, or potential liability exposure.
  • This role also requires the preparation of water quality monitoring methods and the assessment of environmental sample results.
  • Daily reports must be generated and updated to alert management. Inventory management and sample transport are logistical responsibilities.
  • Some examples of project management are coming up with ideas and estimates, coming up with ways to fix mistakes, keeping an eye on the implementation and construction, and giving advice.

Skills:

  • For consideration, you must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in geology and at least 20 extra semester hours in math, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural engineering, mining, petroleum engineering, or computer science from an approved college or university.
  • You must have one year of federal government specialized experience or education equivalent to the GS-07 to be considered for this post. To meet this requirement, you must have collected, analyzed, and reported on soil and rock sample data in the field, as well as providing standard data to higher-level specialists; conducted studies or investigations; and/or assisted in the administration of mineral locateable and saleable activities.
  • Ability to execute field and site inspections for groundwater monitoring wells at solid waste sites and for closed landfills.
  • documenting geological data in a complete, reliable manner using Microsoft programs capability of doing a large number of jobs concurrently.
  • In a mining or manufacturing facility environment, there is the potential for exposure to extremes of temperature and humidity as well as the potential for electrical shock and exposure to hazardous chemicals and explosives.
