Job Description
The Rigger inspects, maintains, and inspects the condition of all lifting gear used to transport goods by crane to or from maritime vessels. Assure the task is done safely and the equipment is utilized.

Qualifications:
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in compliance with company policies are required for the proper execution of this function.
- Responsible for drilling, securing and testing the operation of head blocks, mule blocks, sheaves, winches, and components of counterweighted, winched and dead hung systems.
- Only a few of the particular jobs involved in this project include the installation of hardware to existing structures, the installation of hanging pipes, beams, or tracks, and the installation of hardware to concrete, steel, wood, and block walls.
- When it comes to rigging installation, working as a team is just as important as using your own initiative and judgment.
- Inspection, testing, and maintenance are performed on planks, fiber ropes, wire ropes, chains, swing scaffolds, and other rigging equipment.
- Working on or off of work platforms, trucks, streets, or other levels of structures or vessels requires the safe lifting and lowering of equipment, machinery, and other objects.
- To protect the safety of employees and materials, personnel involved in lifting and transferring loads are given signals or verbal directions.
- A worker in this field uses hand and power equipment to secure loads onto rigging so that they may be moved or moved more easily.
- Riggers must operate at heights ranging from twelve to sixty feet above the ground, which often necessitates the use of safety equipment and climbing.
- A rigger is in charge of putting up large lifting equipment and fastening it using pulleys, ropes, and hoists. During operations, does physical work.
Skills:
- The employee is often needed to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, squat, and/or sit while performing the tasks of this profession.
- Five years of full-time experience as a Rigger doing the tasks listed under Duties and Responsibilities during the past 10 years.
- Only those who are physically able to handle 50 lbs. are required, but those who are periodically pushed or pulled up to 100 lbs. are permitted.
- A valid state-issued motor vehicle driving license is essential for appointments with DOT, and must be maintained for the term of employment.
- To be considered for an appointment, candidates must be clean of any drug or alcohol impairment. On the job, riggers are exposed to random drug and alcohol screening.
