Qualifications:
- Physical activities include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling goods. Attend training programs to maintain national certification, state licensure, and expertise. Patient needs determine labor hours at each site. Including overtime, call, backup call, evenings, days, weekends, and holidays.
- The Paramedic will be responsible for obtaining and renewing his/her certification. To renew their license, Paramedics must have adequate continuing education credits, which will be supplied by the Department.
- The sick and wounded patients who are in the care of the paramedic will get emergency medical treatment and transportation in compliance with all laws that are relevant, as well as the protocols and procedures of the department.
- Handles patient evaluations, reassessments, and resuscitation therapies, including IV fluids, endotracheal intubation, chest decompression, medication, and spine/extremity immobilization.
- Assesses and treats patient in way to ER. Paramedics may transfer patients. Observe, record, and report to physician patient’s status, treatment, and medication or treatment reactions at emergency site and in transit for diagnostics.
- The paramedic will tell a supervisor right away if any of their supplies, equipment, or vehicle are broken or don’t work right. As needed, they will fill up the unit.
- It is important for paramedics to communicate effectively with the receiving institution to get medical guidance and provide important data, such as the patient’s current condition. Understand the relevant legal, moral, and ethical considerations surrounding emergency medical services, and provide detailed written record of patient status and treatment. At the same time as protecting patient privacy, paramedics must communicate effectively with the patient’s loved ones as well as the patient himself or herself in order to provide comfort and assurance. Perform lifting and moving duties as needed to assist with patient care at the receiving facility.
- During the course of therapy, the practitioner is responsible for monitoring the state of the patient and, using their professional judgment and previous experience, making any required adjustments to the methods or procedures.
- Transports patients to evacuation vehicles, including loading and unloading patients from ambulances, aircraft, and other modes of transportation.
- Paramedics will examine and treat adults, babies, children, medical, and trauma patients. Determine where to transfer patients depending on their condition and injuries, unless otherwise directed by medical staff.
Skills:
- Ambulance operations include on-board systems, emergency driving, scene management, radio communication, general patient care treatments, and understanding of the equipment used in pre-hospital patient care.
- High school diploma or equivalent necessary; paramedic or paratechnology degree desirable. A licensed paramedic must complete an approved program.
- The ability to build and keep strong working relationships with patients and other members of the treatment team while using standard care and interaction methods for advanced life support.
- National Paramedic Registry status. Workshops and staff meetings are required per policy.
- It is important to have an in-depth understanding of paramedic concepts, procedures and methods in addition to an understanding of different equipment, such as a monitor or defibrillator.
