Job Description
The Pharmacy Assistant works in the pharmacy under the direction of a certified pharmacist and aids in pharmacy duties that do not need the pharmacist’s professional judgment. Work areas include, but are not limited to, filling unit doses, repackaging, invoicing, inventory monitoring, and stock requests.

Qualifications:
- Examines the prescription to ensure that it contains the medicine name, strength, directions for usage, the amount to be provided, any specific instructions, and how to renew the prescription. Recognizes the possibility of generic or therapeutic replacements.
- Clean and tidy workplaces, frequent cleanings, and efficient waste disposal processes cannot be overstated in terms of their importance..
- In accordance with the regulations of the Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and the State Board of Pharmacy, ensure that all drug storage rooms are appropriately and securely maintained.
- Patient care sections filling floorstock requests, submitting charges to applicable cost centers and collecting supplies from wholesalers or other suppliers are just a few of this position’s many tasks.
- Maintain correct monetary transactions for cash, credit, and check payments at the point of sale (POS). Review daily register transactions for irregularities at the conclusion of the shift.
- It helps the product’s market, competition, customer needs, distribution, and corporate products to be better understood.
- Using the batch record from the pharmacist, repackages and labels non-sterile and sterile items, as well as dosages that were made up on the spot.
- In a manner that embodies the pharmacy’s mission and the organization’s vision, provides appropriate medications, information, and professional services in a helpful, empathetic, pleasant, and efficient manner.
- When a patient’s identity has been verified, such as via a claim check or health plan card inspection, prescriptions may be sold.
