Job Description
The major duty of the Assistant Operation Manager is to oversee and manage the Library Page staff, which includes hiring, training, coordinating job assignments, scheduling, conducting performance assessments, and putting necessary corrective measures into place. In support of the Operations Manager and other Management Team members, the Assistant Operations Manager has shared oversight of the regular library operations. The right person for this job will be able to work well with others, change quickly with changing demands, identify and set priorities, make plans and operate successfully under often complex or stressful circumstances, plan and organize their own work, and supervise the work of others. Preferably with supervisory experience.

Qualifications:
- Ensures that the library’s personnel needs are met by working with the Operations Manager on a regular basis.
- Recruits, interviews, and hires new Library Pages as needed. Ensures that all necessary paperwork for new hires is completed correctly and on time.
- As needed, assists with scheduling tasks for Library Technical Assistants, Public Service Assistants, and Librarians.
- Library Pages get new hire and ongoing training, and all library regulations and procedures are followed.
- When necessary, this person temporarily replaces the Operations Manager. Resolution or referral of operational challenges, resolution of staff and patron incidents, problems, or conflicts, and enforcement of the Code of Conduct are just a few of the obligations that may fall under these responsibilities.
- Establishes staffing levels that are sufficient to meet the needs of the library and schedules Library Page employees in accordance with anticipated workload.
- As a point of contact for Facilities Management Services, ensures the daily maintenance and repair of the designated facility.
- Participates in and makes a contribution to the region’s library’s overall management. Regional Management Team member. Encourages the creation of a collaborative work atmosphere.
- Set high standards for job performance and hold individuals accountable for delivering on those standards when they are met.
- Depending on the circumstance, one might help with the job of direct reports, circulation, and customer service.
Skills:
- The position requires at least two years of library experience. With managerial experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of every element of library operations, particularly those that touch on circulation.
- A high school diploma or the equivalent is necessary for the job, along with some experience in fundamental supervision. It’s preferred to have some college-level education.
- A capacity for building and maintaining relationships with coworkers, peers, and customers.
- Ability to effectively manage consumers with behavioral difficulties and to resolve their complaints.
